Fellowship Resources

Morristown Medical Center

  • Established 3-year EM Residency 
  • Tertiary care teaching hospital and regional referral center  
  • ACS Level 1 Trauma Center 
  • Comprehensive stroke and STEMI designated center
  • Primary site for fellow ED clinical shifts (6/month)


Atlantic Mobile Health

  • Work as an Assistant Medical Director 
  • BLS/MICU/SCTU/Air Medical Command and Oversight 
  • Dispatch and Patient Transfer Center 
  • Responsible for Paramedic, Critical Care Nursing and Air Medical education, training, and quality assurance
  • Didactic and in-field training 
  • Dedicated Physician Response Vehicle (Delta1) 


County College of Morris Paramedic Program 

  • Member of Board of Directors
  • Didactic lectures and curriculum development 
  • Skills lab and cadaver training  


Morris County Office of Emergency Management

  • Disaster/Mass Gathering/Tactical Medicine Training 
  • 1-2 Disaster Preparedness Drills/year 

EMS Fellowship Education

EMS Curriculum based on Core Content of EMS Medicine

Weekly EMS didactics include:  

  • Textbook/Board prep lectures based on:  Emergency Medical Services: Clinical Practice and Systems Oversight: 3rd Edition  
  • Evidence based literature review 
  • Case based learning 
  • Guest lecturers 
  • 20+ weekly in-person and virtual attendees including fellow(s)/EMS Fellowship faculty/AMH clinical staff/AMH management/MMC ED attending and resident staff  

Academic Resident Conference – Weekly 

  • Attendance to help maintain primary board skills and prep for EM Boards  
  • EM Board Review Question session (Rosh Review) with residents following resident conference weekly  
  • Fellow to present quarterly at resident conference 

Monthly EMS Fellowship Journal Club 

'Cases and Cocktails’ – Monthly social outing with AMH staff 

Monthly Atlantic Mobile Health QA/QI Audit Committee Meeting - Fellow is responsible for presenting portion of QA review 

Monthly Atlantic Mobile Health Medical Oversight Board Meeting 

Quarterly attendance at local and state level EMS meetings 

Integration into EM and EMS administrative activities including Trauma, STEMI, Stroke and Disaster Committees

  • ACEP/CORD Teaching Fellowship - August 
  • AMTC:  Air Medical Director Course Preconference – October   
  • National NJ EMS Conference – November (Atlantic City, NJ)

Program Curriculum

Duration:  52 Weeks

  • 2 weeks orientation 
  • 38 weeks – EMS Core Content / Electives  / Away Rotation 
  • 4 weeks (consecutive) Research Block o 4 weeks – vacation 
  • 4 weeks (combined) – Conferences/Courses 


EMS Core Content Week 

  • EMS Didactics – 0.5 day/week  
  • EMS Admin/Teaching – 1 day/week  
  • EMS Field Practice – 1 day/week (Ground ALS/ Physician support vehicle) 
  • EMS Field Sub-specialty Practice – 1 day/week (Air, SCTU, PTC, Tactical, etc.) 
  • Clinical Shifts - 1 day/week

                       - EMS focused project with manuscript submission/abstract presentation at    national meeting (core) 

                       - Research resources/mentors provided by our EMS Fellowship Faculty and MMC Department of Emergency Medicine 

  • QI – Develop, implement, complete QI project (core) 
  • Presentation at NJ EMS Conference in Atlantic City (November) 
  • Participate in sentinel event investigation (AMH or MMC) (core) 
  • Participate in a mass casualty/disaster triage at an actual event or drill (core) 
  • Participate in a mass gathering medical plan and participation in its implementation (core) 
  • Participate in the development or revision of an EMS Protocol (core) 
  •  Education 

                       - Atlantic Mobile Health Paramedic Competencies 

                       - Prehospital provider remediation 

                       - Paramedic Refresher Training Course 

                       - County College of Morris Undergraduate Paramedic Program 

                        - Resident Education:
