Pedro J. Colón Ortiz, MD is the EMS Fellow at Morristown Medical Center for the 2024-2025 academic year. Born, raised, and medically trained in Puerto Rico, he moved to the Garden State in 2021 with his wife and son to continue his Internal Medicine training at MMC, which he completed in 2024. Pedro J. Colón Ortiz, MD is the EMS Fellow at Morristown Medical Center for the 2024-2025 academic year. Born, raised, and medically trained in Puerto Rico, he moved to the Garden State in 2021 with his wife and son to continue his Internal Medicine training at MMC, which he completed in 2024. His interest in pre-hospital medicine stems from his time living in Puerto Rico and witnessing firsthand how natural disasters can affect an entire nation, punctuating the importance of first-response care.
In addition to his civilian work, he is a Captain in the US Army, Puerto Rico National Guard. He is passionate about his work as an Army physician and, especially, about training his Medics to achieve adequate competencies for whenever and wherever they get deployed. He believes there is no other job in medicine than that of an EMS physician, that would allow him to transition so seamlessly between the Army and civilian worlds. Both roles require clinical knowledge in the management of the critically ill, emphasize expertise in patient transportation, provide continuous education for clinicians under their guidance, and grant a multitude of leadership opportunities within the realm of medical directorship.
Specific EMS interests: Battlefield / tactical medicine, MCI, aerospace medicine and transportation, EMS integration with inpatient medicine.

Dr. Corinne Espinosa

Dr. Corinne Espinosa
Corinne Espinosa, DO, is one of the current EMS fellows at Morristown Medical Center. She completed her residency training in emergency medicine at Morristown after finishing her medical education at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Espinosa previously worked in mental health and applied behavior analysis before deciding on a career in medicine. Her passion for education in the pre-hospital setting ultimately led her to pursue a fellowship in EMS. When she is not working in the emergency department, Corinne loves to spend her time traveling with her husband and daughter, cooking from scratch, and chasing after her furry children (Olive the pig and Dillon the dog). Her upcoming goal is completing a marathon (or triathlon) during her fellowship year.

My name is Nikhil Jain, and I am an EMS Fellow at MMC for the 2022-2023 academic year. I am mainly a New Jersey native, born in West Virginia, but also lived in Pennsylvania, and Virginia, but have called the Garden State my home since 2002. I grew up in Freehold, and attended Rutgers University and Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine, before coming to Morristown. I am passionate about Public Health and improving prehospital care, as I found my love for Emergency Medicine as an EMT in high school. When I am not working clinically, I enjoy spending time with my wife, playing Xbox, traveling to warmer locations, attending EDM concerts, or binge rewatching Dave Chappelle comedy specials.

Michael Berkenbush is an emergency physician and the past EMS fellow at Morristown Medical Center for the 2021-2022 academic year. He serves Atlantic Mobile Health as the Western Region EMS medical director and is now an associate fellowship director the EMS fellowship. In addition, he is a currently practicing paramedic for Atlantic Mobi
Michael Berkenbush is an emergency physician and the past EMS fellow at Morristown Medical Center for the 2021-2022 academic year. He serves Atlantic Mobile Health as the Western Region EMS medical director and is now an associate fellowship director the EMS fellowship. In addition, he is a currently practicing paramedic for Atlantic Mobile Health in NJ and for Blooming Grove Paramedics in NY. His roots are in volunteer EMS/Fire in Morris County, NJ, which prompted further interest in prehospital medicine.
